Get The Most Out Of Your Headshot Photoshoot

It's not often we have our photo taken. Most of us try our hardest in life to never be in front of the camera.... especially on our own. But as a business owner we know how valuable our brand photography is. It says a lot about our commitment to our business and it also looks so much more professional. So with that in mind, how can you make the most out of this big decision you have made for your business?

Don't worry I am always here to help but to get the most out of your session with me it is so important that you are clear about your goals and what it takes to get the kinds of images you see in my portfolio. I hope these help you decide whether we are the right fit and make you feel more confident about having your photo taken.

Tip #1 - Choose the right photographer

  • Do Your Research: Look at portfolios to find a photographer whose style matches your vision.

  • Read Reviews: Check for feedback from past clients about their experience and satisfaction.

  • Specialization: Opt for a photographer experienced in headshots, especially for your specific purpose (Do you want Corporate style photos or more relaxed lifestyle/branding photography?).

Tip #2 - Prepare!

  • Wardrobe: Bring a small selection of outfits that align with your goals. Stick to solid colors and avoid busy patterns (unless it is part of your brand). Ensure they are clean and well-fitted.

  • Accessories: Keep accessories minimal to avoid distractions. Keep your brand in mind when choosing accessories, ask yourself.... does it make sense for my brand?

  • Bring props along that align with your brand and that make sense to you as a business owner. Don't bring too many!

Tip #3 - Communicate your goals

  • Purpose: Share the purpose of your photography needs (e.g., professional LinkedIn photo, social media posts, website rebrand, etc.) so the photographer can tailor the session to you.

  • Personality: Discuss the vibe you want to convey, such as approachable, confident, or creative. I will send you a questionnaire before the photoshoot so I'm fully prepared before the shoot dah.

  • Feedback: Be open to suggestions but don’t hesitate to express preferences during the shoot.

Tip #4 - Pay Attention to Details

  • Hair and Makeup: Having your hair and makeup done by a professional before your photoshoot can be the make or break of your photos and how you feel about the shoot. I always recommend this and can say without a doubt it helps all of my clients feel more confident having their photos taken. Just ask for recommendations.

  • Posing: This part is super important but please don't worry I will help you with this and you probably won't even know I am doing it!

  • Lighting: Lighting is so important to your photos and the overall look. There are things we need to take into consideration when choosing the location, lets chat before the photoshoot to ensure we choose the right location for you.

Tip #5 - Relax and Be Yourself

  • Try to chill: My style of shooting is very relaxed. It's like hanging out with a friend for an hour and chatting. One friend just happens to have a camera strapped to them! My goal is not maximum photos, it is to take photos that you love, you feel reflect you perfectly and are happy to put on your website or social media .

  • Relax: Easy to say I know. But to be honest your mindset is so important. If you turn up to the photoshoot full of anxiety it will show in the photos. Try to turn up with a positive excited attitude! These photos are going to elevate your business and make you stand out from the crowd. That's something to be very happy about. Also I know what I am doing, I'm super chilled so hopefully that'll rub off on you as well because lets face it, having some nerves about a photoshoot is ONLY NATURAL.

It's all about the team work

If we work together we WILL without a doubt create beautiful images that you will love and be proud of. My guarantee to you.
